Grammy Awards 2020: Angelique Kidjo wins Best World Music And Dedicate her Award to Nigeria Controversial Singer(Burna Boy).




   - Angelique Kidjo has won the 2020 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album - The nominees for the award were Burna Boy, Altin Gun, Nathalie Joachim and others - Angelique, however, dedicated the award to Burna Boy               Angélique Kidjo has been announced the winner of the 2020 Grammy Award for Best World Music for her album Celia. This is the 4th time the Beninese and African legend is taking home an award at the coveted award show. According to reports, she has been nominated nine times at the Grammy Awards. Much to the disappointment of many Nigerian music lovers, she beat Nigeria’s superstar, Burna Boy and other artistes in the category. 

Asides Kidjo, the others nominated for the Best World Music Grammy included Burna Boy – African Giant’, Altin Gün – Gece, Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley – What Heat, Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet – Fanm D’ayiti. 
Angélique Kidjo dedicated her Best World Music Grammy to Burna Boy. "The new generation of artists coming from Africa are going to take you by storm, and the time has come,” said Kidjo during her acceptance speech. Though the World Music category remains a dubious one, Burna Boy's nomination was a major milestone for contemporary African music and the significance was not lost on Kidjo.
"This is for Burna Boy, [he] is among those young artists [who] came from Africa [who] are changing the way our continent is perceived, and the way African music has been the bed rock for every [type] of music," she remarked. Burna Boy has expressed being a major fan of the celebrated artiste on several occasions.
