Popular American star, Sean Diddy Combs, has condemned Grammy Awards for their lack of recognition for black creatives - Diddy said that black music is not considered enough in their major categories, adding that it takes so much to belt out albums - The rap's comment on the award got him a standing ovation from Industry icons like Jay Z and Beyonce Sean Diddy Combs called out the Grammy Awards on Saturday, January 25, at the pre-award gala for neglecting the rap and black music in all its categories. A multiple Grammy Awards winner, the legend, during his 50-minute acceptance speech of his 2020 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award, said that respect has not been given to black music in the right measure. He said the award institution has been “killing us man”, stating that they do not know it takes so much to make records.


In making the constructive criticism, Diddy also said that the disregard is not only limited to music, that it happens in the film, sports, and other creative endeavors.
The legendary American musician won standing ovation from the crowd, especially from Jay Z and Beyonce, for his comment. 
earlier reported that Angélique Kidjo was announced the winner of the 2020 Grammy Award for Best World Music for her album Celia. This is the 4th time the Beninese and African legend is taking home an award at the coveted award show. According to reports, she has been nominated nine times at the Grammy Awards. Much to the disappointment of many Nigerian music lovers, she beat Nigeria’s superstar, Burna Boy and other artists in the category. In other news, Nigerian singer David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, congratulated Burna Boy on his Grammy nomination on his Twitter account. 

    Davido did not stop there, the singer went ahead to also pray for Burna Boy. He said the award is already Burna Boy's win in Jesus name. The tweet has gained lots of reactions since he posted and Nigerians have been hailing the singer for supporting a colleague, also praying that he would also win soon.
