      Missing NLC chairman kidnapped in Cross River - Police give update 
The police finally confirm that Ben Ukpepi, a labour chief earlier declared missing, was kidnapped
Ukpepi was declared kidnapped in his house in the Evening of Tuesday December 17 
The Member of the Nigerian Labour Congress(NLC) was reportedly making a call when the kidnappers struck
 The Nigeria police in Cross River, said in the morning of Wednesday, December 18, that the missing chairman of the Nigeria Labour Force (NLC), Ben Ukpepi, was actually kidnapped. Ukpepi was abducted in his residence in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River state according to the police. The spokesperson of the police in the state, DSP Irene Ugbo, gave the information in reaction to earlier reports of the NLC chairman's disappearance.

The anti-cultism and kidnapping unit are on top of the situation to rescue him," the police spokesperson said. The report quoted a source as saying the NLC chairman was on a call within his residence when the kidnappers struck and took him away. “His family have been calling his line, but it has been switched off since last night and his abductors have not called up till now,” the source was quoted as saying. ifeomacanice.blogspot.com earlier reported that Ukpepi was declared missing with the police spokesperson saying the law enforcement agency was yet to be informed about the incident. Ugbo had promised that the police would furnish the family of the victims with information about the missing labour chief once such details get to her.
