Pastor Alfa Babatunde has filed a N100m suit at the Federal High Court in Akure, the Ondo capital, against the State Security Service (SSS) for illegal detention and infringement of his fundamental human rights. The cleric, who owns Sotitobire Praising Chapel church, recently found himself at the receiving end of angry youths who burnt down his church over claims that the remains of a missing one-year-old boy were found buried there. Pastor Alfa Babatunde is seeking a court order directing the SSS to release him unconditionally from detention, credits: The Nation Source: UGC The mob action reportedly led to the death of three people as well as the destruction of properties valued at millions, The Nation reports. 

The pastor, who was reported to have been detained by the SSS after the incident, sought the order of the court to release him from the custody of the security agency. Joined as respondents in the suit are: the State Security Service, director-general State Security Service, Emmanuel Anaobi, Isaac Babalola and Remi Oluwalogbon. In addition to asking the court to direct the secret police to release him unconditionally from detention, the cleric also urged the court to retrain the SSS from further acts of arrest.
