Tawari attack: Gov Bello assures community of immediate support, security 


The attack on Tawari community in Kogi state continues to generate reactions - Governor Yahaya Bello says he will stand by the community and ensure immediate assistance for victims - The governor gave the assurance when he visited the Ohimege- Igu of Koto Karfe, HRM Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has assured the people of Tawari community that his administration would do everything to stand by them and ensure immediate assistance for the victims of the recent attack in the area. Unknown gunmen on Thursday, January 2 attacked the community in Kogi local government area of Kogi state at night, burning buildings, including the palace of the king of the community. The governor gave the assurance when he visited the Ohimege- Igu of Koto Karfe, HRM Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, at his palace on Sunday, January 5.

Governor Bello reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the attackers were fished out and brought to justice. While condoling the Ohimege and the people of the area, Governor Bello enjoined the people to remain calm assuring that his administration would not relent in his effort to guarantee the safety of lives and protection of property of the people of the state. He described the incident as a barbaric, inhuman and dastardly act, stressing that there was no amount of provocation that could warrant such actions by the militia. He, therefore, assured the people affected by the crisis that his administration will do everything to stand by them, noting that both the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), would provide them timely supports.
