             U.S-Iran conflict: Shi’ites protest in Abuja, burn American flag
Image result for American flag burnt in AbujaThe Islamic Movement in Nigeria also known as Shiites protested the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Abuja - The Shi’ites burnt American flags at a central area of Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. - The angry protesters also chanted hate songs and slogans as they marched the streets of the FCT Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shi’ites on Monday, January 6 led a procession against the United States government over the killing of Iran’s military chief, Qassem Soleimani. The Shi’ites burnt American flags at a central area of Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and chanted hate songs and slogans as they marched the streets. Many workers in the Nigerian capital returning home were caught in the procession and scampered to safety for fear of attacks by the group. 


The group also used the opportunity to call for the release of their own leader, Sheikh El-Zakzaky.

The protesters also demanded the release of their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat who are currently detained by Nigeria's secret police - Department of State Security. The angry protesters marched the streets of Abuja chanting hate songs and slogans like “Death To America.” They also burnt a flag of the United States of America and carried placards condemning the killing of Soleimani. Shi'ites protests are a constant feature in Abuja, though the group has restricted themselves to issues of their local leader, El-Zakzaky.
